Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take insurance?
We are in-network with Aetna and out-of-network with all other insurance plans.
If you have a PPO or POS plan, there's a good chance you have out-of-network benefits. We're happy to submit claims on your behalf to most major insurance companies to help you get reimbursed.
If you're with Aetna, we're happy to verify your coverage and let you know your copay or coinsurance before your first session.
How can I use out-of-network benefits?
We can either submit out-of-network claims to your insurance on your behalf through a service called Thrizer or we can provide you with a superbill (receipt of services), which you can submit to your insurance provider for out-of-network reimbursement and/or to count towards your deductible. Through Thrizer, there is an option to only pay your co-insurance once you’ve met your deductible, so you aren’t paying the whole fee upfront. If you pay the whole fee upfront, you will receive your reimbursement via direct deposit.
How do I know if I have out-of-network benefits?
We recommend that you contact your insurance provider to see if you have out-of-network mental health benefits. Typically, you can be reimbursed for ~60-80% of the cost of each session once you have met your deductible. Here are some helpful questions to ask:
-
Do I have out-of-network coverage for outpatient mental health services?
-
Is a pre-authorization required? If so, how do I get one?
-
What is the reimbursement rate for an out-of-network mental health provider for treatment code 90834 (individual psychotherapy) or 90847 (relationship therapy)?
-
What is my yearly out-of-network deductible? When does it reset?
-
Are there any limits to my coverage (i.e. an “allowed amount” for session fee, # of sessions, etc.)?
Do you see clients in-person or virtually?
Both. Andrew, Gabe, Dimitri and Tanner see clients at our office in Chelsea near Penn Station and virtually via a HIPAA-compliant video platform. Maren, Kate, Fred, and Sofia only see clients virtually.
Can we work together if I don't live in New York?
Yes! Everyone is licensed to practice in New York and some team members are licensed across multiple states. Please see each team member's page for their availability per state.
If you reside in state in which the clinician is not licensed, you can still work together through life coaching. Please note that this service is not reimbursable by insurance.
How often will we meet?
We will meet weekly as this is the best practice for therapeutic progress and success. We offer biweekly sessions on a case-by-case basis, typically only after you have been in weekly treatment for over one year.
Can you prescribe medication?
We are unable to prescribe medication, but we can help you find a medication prescriber as there are many with whom we have a close working relationship. We will be happy to collaborate with your provider to help monitor and coordinate your care.
